Duke Energy Center Cultural Campus – Condominium Tower Charlotte, North Carolina

TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. provided structural engineering design services on this 36-story, 320-unit luxury residential tower that rises above the 6-story Mint Museums separated by a transition level. The 42-story structure will include street level retail and restaurants, and an 8-level secure private parking garage conveniently located beneath the tower and hidden from the street.

Amenities will include an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and a club room that crowns the top of the building, featuring a bar area, lounge-style seating with state-of-the art multimedia capabilities, and an outdoor terrace providing panoramic views of the city and beyond.

Key Structural Components
  • Reinforced high strength (up to 16000 psi) concrete columns and shear walls
  • Post-tensioned concrete slabs
  • Full story high transfer girders at the transition level; some of the girders are tapered at the ends to meet certain architectural requirements
  • Structural steel crown with cantilevers atop the tower along with structural steel frames for high curtain wall parapets
