International Game Fish Association - Fishing Hall of Fame/Museum, Theater & Auditorium Dania Beach, Florida

TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. provided structural engineering design, construction administration and threshold inspection services on this $25 million, three-story, 60,000 square foot multiple-use educational theme, theater and museum. Outdoor exhibits include a marina and wetlands. The 66-foot tall three dimensional stainless steel-clad "fin" (below), is a theater with a projection screen that doubles in height to 28 feet during the show, and later disappears altogether to reveal a viewing window with views of the lake.

Key Structural Components
  • The primary structural system is a poured concrete slab on precast concrete joists with concrete beams.
  • The "fin" feature has a structural steel frame for support.
  • The foundation system is an auger-cast pile foundation system with pilecaps, grade beams and a structural first floor slab.
