Designed to enhance public safety operations, the Sarasota Police Department Headquarters is a state-of-the-art, LEED-certified facility spanning 175,000 square feet on a 69,184-square-foot site in Sarasota, Florida. TRC Worldwide Engineering provided structural engineering design, construction administration, and threshold inspection services for this $40 million project, ensuring a high-performance, resilient structure to support law enforcement operations.
The headquarters consists of four levels dedicated to police operations, with an additional two levels of structured parking, accommodating 200 vehicles. The facility includes specialized spaces for Professional Standards, Support Services, Internal Affairs, Criminal Investigations, Property and Evidence, and Records Management.
Built for strength and security, the structure features cast-in-place concrete beams, columns, and shear walls, along with post-tensioned, one-way concrete flat slabs and beams. To enhance disaster resilience, the building incorporates high-performance, impact-resistant glazing systems, mitigating risks from catastrophic events.
