Perched along Fort Lauderdale Beach, the Marriott W Resort & Residences is a luxury hospitality and residential development designed to offer world-class accommodations and high-end living. TRC Worldwide Engineering provided structural engineering design, contract administration, and threshold inspection services for this 23-story, two-tower complex, which includes a 346-room hotel and 171 private luxury residences on a 4.5-acre beachfront site.
The first six floors house premium amenities, including a 1,020-space parking garage, a sixth-floor pool deck, a destination restaurant, and a sophisticated living room lobby. Residents and guests enjoy a 10,000-square-foot luxury spa and fitness center, retail space, and over 13,000 square feet of high-end meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom with a 300-guest capacity. Due to the project’s proximity to the Coastal Construction Control Line, special siting and structural design considerations were applied to ensure long-term resilience against coastal conditions.
The towers feature 200-ton compressive capacity auger-cast concrete piles, cast-in-place reinforced concrete columns and shear walls, an arched steel truss roof system, and a spread footing foundation system, providing a robust structural framework for the high-rise development.
