Gulf Coast Medical Center Expansion – Lee Health System - Fort Myers, Florida
TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc. is providing structural engineering design, construction administration and threshold inspection services on this horizontal and vertical expansion project to the existing facility. The project included 275 new beds, bringing the center’s new capacity to 624 beds. The fourteen separate additions include:
- Inpatient Nursing Units: addition of three elevated floors, 61,000 SF each (total of 183,000 SF)
- Ancillary Services Building: 64,000 SF, two-story addition designed to accommodate one future story
- Central Utility Plant: 8,000 SF, one story addition to the existing facility
- Clinical Services Expansion: 3,400 SF addition
- Emergency Unit: 25,600 SF expansion, including design for new canopy and helicopter pad
- Environmental Services: 5,400 SF
- Food Services: 5,000 SF addition
- Laboratory: 5,000 SF addition
- Radiology: 15,000 SF addition
- Pharmacy: 6,000 SF addition
- ICU Expansion: 9,700 SF addition; two separate areas; third floor
- Food Services: 500 SF addition; third floor
- Food Services: 1,000 SF addition; fourth floor
- Respiratory Therapy: 2,500 SF addition; fourth floor
