The Colovore ORD-1 Data Center is a 45,000-square-foot, high-density computing facility located on a 12-acre site in Aurora, Illinois. Designed to support advanced AI infrastructure, GPU clusters, and high-performance computing applications, the single-story facility features an 8 MW IT data hall, supporting utility and electrical spaces, and an associated substation.
TRC Worldwide Engineering provided precast engineering services for the facility's exterior building enclosure, which incorporates insulated precast concrete sandwich panels surrounding the data hall and utility areas. The precast system integrates with the building's structural framework and architectural components, contributing to a durable, thermally insulated exterior envelope.
The project demonstrates the application of precast concrete in mission-critical data center construction, where structural performance, building envelope integrity, and coordination with specialized infrastructure are essential to supporting demanding operational requirements.
