New Good Samaritan Hospital | St. Mary's Good Samaritan Inc. Mount Vernon, Illinois

This replacement facility for St. Mary's Good Samaritan Incorporated (a partnership between two healthcare organizations) creates the hospital of choice for Mt. Vernon and its surrounding community.

The hospital integrates physicians by accommodating ancillary joint venture opportunities through a medical office building and ambulatory surgery center. The full-service, 146-bed acute care facility introduces private patient rooms. The four nursing units include beds for cardiac, orthopedics/neurology and rehabilitation, surgical and oncology, medical and pulmonary and an intensive care unit. The 20-room emergency department accommodates 34,000 annual visits. A women's center and pediatric care center are included, as well as surgery, diagnostic imaging, a cardiac cath lab, diagnostics and rehabilitation. Landscaping and outdoor dining areas will add to the patient experience.

Patient- and family-centered care and patient and staff safety are key considerations to the design. The facility's image communicates a vision toward the future while integrating nature to create a restful, peaceful environment.
